This Active Anatomy course is designed to ratchet up your fundamental understanding of structure and form with attention to anatomy, conceptualizing form, and troubleshooting difficult poses. We will work on the description of form with tone in medium length to longer more complete drawings. There will be an emphasis on the integration of the parts, compositional structure, and anatomical relationship. We’ll have lectures, instructional demos, and work from both photos and live-streaming models.

If you have been drawing for a long time and are making little evolutionary headway, then this Active Anatomy class is for you.

Emphasis on:

• Line and Tone
• Modeling form
• 2 concepts about light
• Anatomy
• The Active Figure

In this Active Anatomy class, we will cover:

• Concepts and the visual language
• How to use light and tone effectively
• Great artist’s use of light and tone, and we ask what’s important to them.
• The Mechanics of the Skeletal body
• The infrastructure, and the importance of landmarks
• The muscles of the body
• Mass, Weight, Gravity, Center of balance, and Movement
• How all the parts work together
